Zanzibar Soul Fusion

I literally cannot rave enough about this place. I had the honor of having my birthday dinner with some family and friends here today and it was the best experience. I called ahead because I had a party of 9 and they were so accommodating. Tanisha our server was so amazing!! She was so warm and sweet and she made sure we had everything we needed she definitely deserves the raise and all the praise. I definitely want to come back and eat here.

UPDATE ********** Went to Zanzibar downtown, had Harold as my waiter. It was absolutely a completely different experience would highly recommend food was great. Will add pictures.. our waiter was very welcoming. He had all the recommendations on the menu and definitely stare at us in the right direction. I ordered some of the same things I got at the shaker location. Food was hot seasoning was right and to be honest, can’t really make a complaint. I would absolutely go back, but definitely only to the downtown location I got fried okra, house potatoes ,salmon bites, catfish fingers, blueberry muffins, sunrise kool aid, soul roll , and jerk wings…. Went during lunch hrs at the shaker square location by chance. Was greeted when walked in the door. Ordered what I thought was a lunch special. None of our food came out hot after waiting 30 or so minutes When I ordered my meal I pointed and asked for the salmon bits and instead of the fries can I have okra. The waiter never said they do not substitute or that 10 for 10 was only for Downtown. So when I got my bill and asked him about it his response was you should have read the menu. I told him my apologies but at the same time you heard me order something you don’t offer why didn’t you corrected me or just let me know. Again you should have read the menu… This is a wild experience considering it was my first time.

Although we have been to the Shaker location many times, tonight was hands down our most memorable experience. We took my father in law for his first time and I’m so grateful he was a part of the experience we had today. Tanisha was our server and I promise you, I have been to some out of this world restaurants but SHE was the most attentive, efficient server I have EVER had the pleasure of meeting. I have been a server, I understand the business! She treated my family like we were her first table of the day. Her personality, communication, and commitments to doing her job well did not go unnoticed. She exudes not only confidence but she tackles her job with such grace and professionalism. I began to hand her a cash tip and she said, “ it’s already on the bill.” That bill said gratuity was 15%! There was NO way her interactions with us was only worth 15%! I insisted she take the additional tip and her reaction was so heartfelt. She deserved every penny and more. We will be back and I will do everything in my power to go when Tanisha is available to be our server. Thank you Tanisha for the very BEST service we have EVER had anywhere!

Loved everything here, especially Ms. Sandra (our server)! My mom was so happy that she tasted cabbage like her grandma used to make. I never thought I would find great southern food in Ohio!

Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch experience. Food was GREAT! Would love to know about Thanksgiving specials as it’s just my mom & I in Akron and I’m already too tired to cook, lol. Sandra was very kind, professional and offered great customer service

Sandra & her daughter were PHENOMENAL from the time we walked through the door until the moment we walked out!!!!! I traveled to Cleveland,OH from Dallas, TX on 12-5th, wanted some SOUL FOOD. I flew in for the Cleveland Browns vs Tennessee Titans football game that I attended on 12-7th. The maintenance worker at the hotel recommended Zanzibar in Shaker Heights. The food was DELICIOUS I was Totally SHOCKED that the food was so GOOD!!!! I highly recommend ZANZIBAR in Shaker Heights to any & everyone. The restaurant is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

The food was soooo good! I enjoyed the shrimp and grits, soul rolls and smothered turkey chops! My Hennessy side car made by Momma was to die for! She was an amazing server and I can’t wait to come back!
